With the service sector accounting for most of the world’s and Singapore’s economic activity, there is a demand for Infocomm professionals who understands how to gather requirements, design, build, operate and dispose of service systems for the benefit of multiple stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, employees, partners, and the society at large. In line with this development, IBM Singapore and NUS School of Computing have signed a memorandum of understanding to generate new knowledge and curricula on SSME domains. In addition, IDA has committed a total of 38 National Infocomm Scholarships for students who enrol in degree programmes with SSME specialisation in local universities.
Beginning AY2008-9, the School offers a specialisation in SSME under her Information Systems degree programme for both her new and existing students.
To obtain a Specialisation in Services Science, Management and Engineering (SSME) , students are required to choose 24 modular credits (MCs) from the SSME specialisation list of modules. CS3361 and CS4361 are essential courses for the specialisation. This specialisation will enable students who want to pursue careers that have a service-orientation to develop an in-depth understanding in service innovations and service systems creation, operation and delivery.
